Dub Avalanche Vol. 1 brings together The 18th Parallel, the Swiss roots & dub band behind Fruits Records’ analog productions, and Roberto Sánchez, the renowned Spanish producer and engineer known for Lone Ark Muzik Studio. Fruits Records and The 18th Parallel have built a strong reputation over the last decade for high-fidelity roots reggae played with vintage methods — live musicians, tape machines, and carefully crafted dub arrangements. Their collaborations often feature Jamaican foundation artists such as Cornell Campbell, Cedric “Congo” Myton, and Linval Thompson.
This album captures the meeting of two of today’s most respected forces in European roots and dub. The 18th Parallel provide warm, bass-heavy instrumentals inspired by the 1970s Jamaican dub school (King Tubby, Scientist, and the early Channel One sound), while Roberto Sánchez contributes his unmistakable mixing style: deep echoes, wide reverbs, melodic bass presence and analog spatial effects that recall the classic era without sounding retro-limited.
Fruits Records releases — including this one — are known for their meticulous attention to analog detail and their role in helping revive the European roots reggae scene. This project highlights that mission: organic performances, expertly shaped dub versions and a modern production approach that stays faithful to Jamaican tradition.
